Obstetrician Answers Question Asked by All Expectant Parents

Pasadena, California – Expectant mothers want to know, “when will my baby actually be born?”. A new iPhone app, developed by obstetrician Toni Morrissey, MD, finally answers this question.

Dr. Morrissey notes, “Babies rarely are born on their actual due date. Many factors determine when you will deliver, including when you go into labor, when your water breaks, or when you might need to be delivered for some other reason to reduce the risk of complications.”

Baby Birthday for the iPhone predicts the baby’s delivery date based on the mother’s medical history, surgical history, logistics, and even the small effect of large changes in the barometric pressure. Instead of a due date based only on a 40-week pregnancy length, Baby Birthday provides an expected delivery date tailored to the mother’s individual circumstances.

This new app even provides an estimate of when the baby might arrive in different time periods. For instance, a mother might determine how likely the baby is to be born before New Year’s Day.

Baby Birthday also provides thorough explanations about each question topic, such as background information about cervical exams and diabetes, and even a detailed list of what to pack for the hospital, written by an obstetrician and mother of two.

Of course the predicted delivery date is just an estimate, just like the actual due date, but Baby Birthday is a valuable resource for all pregnant couples. It is especially fun for those in the third trimester, when the predictions change daily.
